For all information regarding Forest Park Intramural tennis, see below:
1. Update: the matches on 5/22(fall sports night) and 5/29(UW-Madison field trip) will be rescheduled due to district conflicts. Those already signed up will receive first priority on the new date. Rescheduled dates will be posted as soon as they are established. 2. In case of rain, Coach Vogt will try to post an announcement on this page. To be sure, swing by the practice location and he will be there to let you know if practice will be held 3. Here is a copy of a form that only needs to be filled out if a parent drives an athlete home from an event that they were brought to on a school bus:
1. What will practice be like? -Practices will be held at different times this year. They may be at Tuckaway Country Club(68th and Drexel) or Lions Legend Park (the set of three courts by the library). Practice times also differ. Some will be 3:30-5:30pm, 5:30-7:30 and a few will be on Saturday mornings. Be sure to check the schedule regularly for updates. -Saturday tournaments: These tournaments are new this year. We will have competitive tournaments that will allow players to compete and possibly win prizes. It will be a great way to get in real match competition. Click here for more detailed information on tournaments. -Due to bus availability, please pick up your athlete from the practice location, not Forest Park
2. Who makes the team? -Just like the high school girls team, we are no-cut. Everyone has an opportunity to play. This does not mean everyone will play in every match (many teams are smaller than we are) but it does mean everyone will be given a chance to prove themselves -Since we have very limited courts on which to practice, playing time in matches will be based upon a variety of factors including: challenge matches, practice attendance, rotation, skills evaluation
3. What should I bring to a meet? -Racquet (if you don't have one, I do have a few extras) -Water (an athletic water bottle, not a vending machine bottle of water)
Yes
No
-Athletic shoes (these should be supportive tennis shoes), athletic shorts/pants with pockets -Your Franklin tennis t-shirt (available for pickup in main office). If you did not order one you must wear Franklin colors: (black, white, vegas gold) -Your homework (if there is down time you can get work done)
4. How do we get to a match? -Mr. Vogt will drive the bus -We leave right after school, return approximately 6-7pm -Bring your cell phone so you can call when we are leaving -Parents(no siblings, even if they are over 18) may drive their child home directly from the meet if they fill out the release form attached at the top of this page. If you go home with a parent that is not yours, you must have written authorization from your parent and your parent must fill out the release form attached at the top of this page. This is a non-negotiable district policy. Coach Vogt has no authority over this policy, his only role is to make sure it is followed.
5. What should I bring to school? -Your racquet, athletic clothes/shoes and water bottle -If you can't fit these in your locker, drop them off in Mr. Vogt's room (210)
6. Wait a second, I don't even know how to play tennis!
